I find it’s not so much those important things disappearing that causes the most stress (though I would like to know where my birth certificate’s got to) but the constant little things and the amount of time and energy that goes into looking for them dozens of times a day.

I’m still searching for the three, banjo-union bolts that I placed consciously and carefully on the front edge, in the middle of the workbench in the garage. They are essential bits of my boat’s engine which I took off in order to carry out a repair. They’ve been gone for about six weeks now and, after considerable detective work and at considerable expense, I’ve managed to obtain replacement bolts. I expect the originals to turn up when the newly aquired replacements are fitted.
